I had the great pleasure of testing and reviewing the Cobra CXT 1035R FLT (Floating Walkie Talkies) and I am not surprised to find that this product delivered in a big way.
At the time of testing this unit was available for only $99.00 US.
The Cobra CXT 1035R FLT is perfect for anyone who needs to clearly communicate at long ranges, while actively participating in both indoor and outdoor activities. The walkie-talkie is the complete package and I quickly learned why it’s the real leader in its class.
I want to highlight a few features that I really loved about the Cobra CXT 1035R FLT (Floating Walkie Talkies) before I begin to breakdown the many features that Cobra packs into this unit.

- This unit is waterproof, floats and a special feature allows you to easily “burp” the speakers to remove any water!
- There is a patented “Rewind-Say-Again” technology, allowing for 20-second rewind!
- This unit has VOX (hands free voice-activation)!
- Each unit has a flashlight and comes fully equipped with AA NiMH chargeable batteries and docking station, but you can also use regular alkaline batteries when away from power sources and unable to recharge units!
- You can pair most walkie-talkies with this unit!
It took me about 15 minutes to fully learn all of the great features that this product provides, but within minutes I was able to find a clear, private channel and get started with my testing. The easy to read manual clearly explains how to use the Rewind-Say-Again technology and listen to the last 20 seconds of conversation, or check the weather band, change VOX sensitivity, set up weather alerts and use the 2662 Channel Combinations to find a private channel to communicate.
Testing the Cobra CXT 1035R FLT (Floating Walkie Talkies)
I started testing this unit while biking and kayaking in open-spaces and then preceded to test near natural obstructions and man-made structures and I found that it performed better than advertised. I also found that this unit out-performed the competition in every category. I couldn’t help but think that these units would be perfect for everything from camping, biking, kayaking, boating, construction sites, security details and during natural disasters.
I then moved on to begin testing distance and clarity. While I wasn’t able to test the advertised 37-mile range, I wasn’t surprised to find that the range while over-water was excellent and clear at the 10+ miles that I tested. I was more amazed to receive clear communication from the 3-mile range while in and around the large condominiums on the beach. I tested without a headset, but still found the sound and clarity to be perfect with each test scenario.
The longer that I tested this unit, the more I feel in love with it and I highly recommend that you consider this unit if you are in the market for a two-way radio.
